The Doctor Is In

We got Kylee a doctor's set for Halloween and she LOVES it. She has been giving checkups to anyone and everyone she can. Since then, I have been looking for a dress up set with a doctor's coat. I couldn't find one that had just the coat so I went ahead and got one that included all of the tools (I figured a doctor can't have too many of the same tools right?) and we gave it to her for Valentine's Day. The best new thing in this set though is a clipboard with a patient chart notepad and a prescription pad. Needless to say, Dr. Kylee has been conducting check ups and filling out patient carts ever since she opened her present.

Here she is ready for another day at the office. : )

First patient ... her elephant!

All important paperwork is filled out and Dr. Kylee is ready for her next patient. : )

Ryland is 10 months!

Ryland is 10 months old and a complete ball of energy! I can't even remember the last time he crawled to get somewhere. He has become quite the walker and is now working on his climbing skills! So far he has successfully made it into the cabinet, dishwasher, and trampoline!?! I still can't believe that he can climb into the trampoline without any help but at the same time I'm not totally surprised either. : )

He is also climbing the charts at the doctor's pretty quickly. At his last appointment he weighed 20 pounds and was 28 1/4 inches long. Both of these put him in the 50th - 75th percentile. He is, of course, above the 95th percentile with his head circumference!! (48 cm.) He is also up to 4 teeth now -- two on the top and two on the bottom.

Here are a few recent pictures of our little guy. : )

He LOVES the bath and splashes around almost the entire time he is in there. (Kylee enjoys it too since he always gets her wet with his splashes. Luckily, she understands not to splash back.) : )

Of course he always wants to do whatever his big sister is doing. She is SO good with him too ... seems like she gets better and more understanding every day.

But there are times when she knows he isn't supposed to have some of the things she plays with. You can see her saying "Ry-win, No!" : ) (She has gotten much better though at just saying, "Mommy move him" instead of trying to do it herself.)

As you can see ... they are having a lot of fun together. : )

Who's Who?

Kylee and I were looking through some old pictures the other day and we came across the picture of her on the scale right after she was born. Everytime she sees a baby picture she asks if it is Ryland and is usually surprised when we tell her that it is actually her. This time however, the similarities were just too much. I dug up Ryland's "scale" picture to compare. Take a look for yourself ... can you tell which picture is Kylee and which picture is Ryland. (I did crop them a bit so you couldn't see the weights or anything below the waist.) : )

Just in case you did try to guess and want to know if you were right .....

January Fun

2011 is off to a great start and we have been having a lot of fun. Here are some recent pictures from this month.

Just some fun pics of Kylee. I couldn't resist the picture in her Harley jacket with the sunglasses and wet hair! : )

Some recent pictures of Ryland. And yes, his shirt says "Little Monstah." : )

We had a really nice, almost fall like, day this past week so the kids and I went to the park. They LOVED being able to go back outside and play. Kylee and Ryland are still big fans of the swings and Ryland was extra happy to be able to run around and play.

We also took a trip into DC to the Natural History Museum. We rode the metro in which Kylee really thought was neat. She is still talking about riding "the train." On our walk to the museum we saw the carousel so we were sure to stop by on our way back to the Metro. Kylee got to ride on the Dragon so she was very excited. We also took some time to get pictures with the Capitol in the background. A woman saw us standing taking pictures and offered to get one of all of us -- score! It isn't often we are able to get pictures of the four of us together. Before leaving, I had to try and get a picture of Kylee "holding" the Washington Monument -- not bad for a 2 year old. : )

Fun with "Aunt Laudee"

As I was organizing all the pictures on the computer I came across some from a trip to PA in November. As you can see . . . Kylee had a great time "dressing up" in all of Aunt Laura's ribbons. (I'm pretty sure Aunt Laura had fun too.) She even got Ryland into the dressing up party. There are also a few pics of why it is never a good idea to fall asleep when Aunt Laura is around with a camera. : )

Christmas Catch Up

Here is a quick catch up from our Christmas time -- just a bit late. : )

Before leaving for PA we had some friends over to decorate Christmas cookies. Kylee, Brayden, and Charlotte made sugar cookies (with sprinkles of course!) We had a great time making (and of course eating!) our cookies!

We ended up getting to PA a day later than expected. On Wednesday morning we took Ryland to the doctor hoping to get a quick prescription to take care of a cough he had picked up. Turns out that he ended up in the ER for most of the morning getting oxygen treatments and some other testing done. He had a pretty good case of Viral Croupe. The doctors suggested that we wait one more day to leave just to be sure we didn't need to bring him back to the hospital.

We got to PA and were ready to celebrate Christmas. On Christmas Eve we got all dressed up and ready for church.

Then it was time to get our Christmas pajamas on (picked out by Kylee) and get all set up for Santa to come. I realize looking at the picture that it seems we have a bit of a "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree" BUT it is actually our "travel tree." Since we will always be somewhere other than our house for Christmas we take this little tree with us and put some of our own ornaments on it -- that way Santa will always know where to find us! : ) Kylee put our milk, cookies, and carrots for Santa along with a note that said "I love you Santa Claus. I love you Rudolph Red Nose." Then she and Daddy went outside and sprinkled reindeer food on Nana's and Grandad's front lawn to help with Santa's traveling and navigation. We put our stockings by the bed (Ryland still wasn't 100% so this was the best stocking hanging we were going to get from him) and went to sleep.

Turns out that the "wake up really early to see if Santa came" phase has not hit Kylee yet. She was the last one to wake up at the house. We were actually all sitting around waiting for her! Then when it was time to open presents ... she was happy and all but she had to keep stopping to take a drink of her apple juice!?!? It was pretty comical and not completely what I was expecting. All in all though ... it was a great Christmas morning!

Our drive up to MA was also postponed a day due to snow. Seems like the time line we had made for this break was not going to work out for us. When we did get there though, Kylee was very excited to go outside and play. She wasn't too into the sledding but really wanted to build a snowman! She had a great time and now keeps wanting the snow to come to VA too! (I had to include the picture of Ryland on the sled byhimself because everytime I look at it I think "I can't put my arms down!" ha ha ha!)
