A Little Family Getaway

We decided to go on a little family getaway before summer school started up (and then the real school year?!) We didn't want to go too far and needed a place that would have some things for Kylee to do so we heading to Wheeling, West Virginia. It had places to walk around outside, lots of parks, lakes, and of course a zoo!

Our first big adventure was to take Kylee for a pedal boat ride. Surprisingly, she wore the life jacket without trying to pull it off while she was on the boat.

She had a lot of fun at one of the parks near the lake where we pedal boated.
And loved chasing the ducks around. Lucky for the ducks, she never quite caught them. : )

We also visited the zoo which is always a big hit with Kylee. She loved watching the bear even though he didn't move much for her.

Even with the animals though, what she really wanted to do was play with the big rocks and ...
... push her stroller around.

The zoo had a train ride too which was a fun little ride.

We also went to the Ohio River where we were able to bike along the water.

Kylee was all set up in her trailer (with her companion Dougie!)

It was such a relaxing ride that she took a nice little nap along the way.

Kylee's Newest "Adventure"

Kylee's newest adventure is sitting on the dining room chairs. She LOVES to sit there and just look around.

The adventure part is that she gets up there on her own. Here's the proof ...

She is always so proud of herself once she makes it to the top. Of course this is followed by her getting down and then climbing back up . . . over and over again!

A Little Comparison

So, I know everyone always talks about how fast their kids grow so I will save the "time flies" talk and just post some pictures of Kylee and how much she has grown.

These are picture from Kylee in her swing in August 2008 and July 2009.

Hershey Park

The last big adventure before heading back to VA was Hershey Park. Last summer we went to Knoebles but Kylee was only big enough to ride on the Merry Go Round. This year she had a lot of fun riding the kiddie rides. She rode most of them with Jack and he was such a great sport. He kept a very close eye on her and was quick to remind her, "Kywee, you need to sit down." (I apologize in advance for all the pics on this one.)

Here she is ready to start the day.

The Hershey Chocolate Factory Tour is always a hit and Kylee's favorite part was ...

... the singing cows!

She also used this ride to catch up on some sleep before heading back to the rest of the park.

Here are just some of the rides Kylee went on:
the Merry-Go-Round

the Kiddie Train

the Pony Rides (This was a favorite and she actually stayed on for three straight rides without getting out!)

the Frog Hopper (The jury is still out on how she felt about this ride.)

Kylee drove the fire truck while ...

... Jack drove the motorcycle.

Then they both drove the Police Car.

It was a great day!

And everyone had a lot of fun!

Claws-N-Paws

We also visited the Claws-N-Paws Animal Park while we were in PA. Nana, Aunt Amy, Uncle Bubba, and Jack joined us for the trip.

Bubba and Kylee in a dinosaur's egg!

Looking for dinosaur fossils.

Enjoying "Turtle Town" (That was the actual name of this area.)

This picture of Jack and the Meerkat is just too much . . . love it (and him!) Don't know why this picture came out so poorly but hopefully you can still see it.

A great day at the zoo!

Spending time in PA

We left MA and headed to PA to visit with Nana, Grandad, Aunt Amy, Uncle Bubba, Aunt Laura, Uncle Randy, and Jack (who was VERY excited to see his cousin!) We were able to relax and hang out with everyone. While we were there we ...

... went to the park ...

... went "swimming" ...

.. ate ice cream ...

... picniced ...

... laughed with Jack A LOT ...

... and pole danced?!

A Day at the Beach

We also went to the beach while we were in MA. We spent our day in the sun with Aunt Sue, Aunt Laurie, and "Uncle Reeves."

Kylee enjoyed standing in the water with us and looking at the boats but she did not like the sand ...

... unless she was sitting on a towel!

We then headed into the town for some pizza (and a playground.)
